Mr. Zhaonan Duan, born in Dali, Yunnan Province, China, is a world renowned chinese artist specialized in chinese opera portraits and playwright. He studied under Ms. Qingxiang Wang since 1973 particularly in oil painting, chinese brush painting, landscape, portrait, birds and flowers paintings.

Mr. Duan is known as "A Painter who can write and a writer who can paint", a comment from Mr. MingLun Wei, a chinese opera master. He is currently vice chairman of the American Society of Asian Arts.

For more than thirty years Mr. Duan has originated more than three thousand paintings popular in United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China. He published more than three hundred chinese opera portraits in chinese media such as "China Civil Aviation Paper", "Southern Daily", "YangZi Evening", "Jiao Tong Daily", "Jiang Su Contemporary Family Paper", "Movies and plays", "Nan Jing Culture", "Zhen Jiang Daily", "Chang Shu Daily", "Qiao Daily", etc. Among novels he authored are "Two Sparrows", "Little Red Umbrella", "Famous Brands", "Harlequin".
